international PhD program at the University of Regensburg (iPUR)

Aims

In November 2014, the international PhD program at the University of Regensburg (iPUR) was constituted with support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The program aims to establish a structured and international post-graduate training at the Faculty of Biology and Pre-clinical Medicine and at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Regensburg (UR). Other faculties may join later.

The essential goal of the iPUR project is to stimulate and foster research stays of German PhD students abroad and of foreign PhD students at the participating faculties. Furthermore, by means of customized information and recruitment we intend to rise the percentage of excellent foreign students who successfully accomplish their PhD at the Universität Regensburg.

Activities

Research internships for foreign PhDs at the UR:

The planned research internships for foreign PhD students at one of the participating faculties in Regensburg are imbedded in existing scientific co-operations or initiate new contacts. The scientific and personal contacts are the basis for trustful international collaborations including joined PhDs and PhD student exchange. This will increase the number of joint scientific projects, publications and doctorates of the Regensburg faculties with international partners.

Research stays and attendance of conferences abroad for PhDs at the UR:

International activities within the scope of structured doctorates of German PhD students, also outside of DFG or Marie-Curie Graduate Schools, are supported by the funding of conference attendances and research stays abroad. The already established international scientific contacts of the two participating faculties are consolidated within the iPUR project and become accessible to all PhD students. In return, the research visits of German PhD students will strengthen and extend the international contacts of the participating faculties.
