A successful hands-on User Day with Cytiva, 5-6 February 2025
This year's first summer school took place again in Ensdorf from June 26-27.
As in previous years, a canoe trip took place on the small river Vils on the first day in the morning. We were lucky with the weather again. It was neither too hot nor did it rain. So the conditions were perfect for the tour on the water. This time we even managed to avoid flipping over a boat.

After the successful team event, we could check in our rooms and after a short refreshing shower and coffee with cake, the scientific program began.
As we only had two days this year, the program was correspondingly tight. The poster and talk sessions went on into the evening. After the exhausting first day, we ended the evening with a campfire and stick-bread.

The second day was just as tight as the first. Nevertheless, the participants followed all the sessions attentively and there were lively discussions after the poster presentations as well as the talks. The scientific program was enriched by the guest lecture by Christian Schmidl from the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy, who gave an insight into his work as a young group leader in Academia.

The prizes could not be missing this time either. This year, Meghma Mukherjee (Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy) received the Best Poster Award and Kaja Grewe (Microbiology & Archaea Centre) the Best Talk Award. The Best Questioners were Lea Fromm (Medical Microbiology and Hygiene), Michael Schachtner (Medical Microbiology and Hygiene), Lars André Jager (Medical Microbiology and Hygiene), Bettina Firmke (Physiology) and Fabian Hölzl (Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy).
Despite the full program, it was once again a very nice Summer School with lots of exchange, discussions and nice encounters. We are looking forward to the next Summer School in September!
