According to the doctoral regulations § 35 II, 1 every PhD student must apply for a RIGeL membership within the first three months after starting the PhD. Because of several exceedances of deadline the Doctoral Committee reserves the right to charge additional fees in case of failed deadline of application in the future. The regulation applies to every RIGeL registration which comes in after the 31st of July 2013 and exceeds the deadline of 3 months. Information sheet RIGeL Application
Candidates applying for admission to the Regensburg International Graduate School of Life Sciences must fulfill one of the following formal criteria:
Diploma or Master of Science degree from a University or
Master‘s degree in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, bioinformatics or another biological core subject of biological sciences conferred by a University of Applied Sciences within Germany or
Successful completion of medical school or
Successful completion of studies in pharmacy (second section of the pharmaceutical examination) or
Successful completion of teacher training in the subject biology (first state examination for teaching at the school type gymnasium).
The final grade of the degree must be equal or better than 4.0.
Applicants holding a Bachelor‘s degree in one of the subjects mentioned above can gain admission to the graduate school ahead of schedule under the two following prerequisites:
Are among the best 10 percent of graduates within their peer group of their bachelor study in biology, or among the best 20 percent of graduates within their peer group of their study in an elite-program (e.g. BSc of Biochemistry at the University of Regensburg).
Have completed two semesters (min. 60 CP) of a respective MSc program at the University of Regensburg with top grades (in the case of MSc Biology, have completed two Focus Modules [Schwerpunktmodule], or one Focus Module and one Elect Module[Wahlmodul]).
Applications must include the following documents, which have to be submitted to the Faculty Administration Office (Fakultätsverwaltung):
Master or Diploma Certificate (Zeugnis) and Official Document (Urkunde) (original documents can be verified at the Faculty Administration Office when presenting the original documents)

Research Plan (about 3 pages)
