RIGeL Summer School Kloster Plankstetten September 2023

Roughly an hour away from Regensburg lies Kloster Plankstetten, a gorgeous and lively place that hosted this year´s second and last Summer School. Great weather and a fun archery contest set the tone for two and a half days of exciting and diverse academic talks.

23 talks and 17 posters were presented across the event, amounting to an intensive but marvelous learning experience that broadened the attendees´ mind on what is being currently done at the University of Regensburg in the field of Life Sciences and the people behind the research. This year´s best poster prize went to Piuli Shit for her work on ant behaviour and reproduction, while the best talk was awarded to Clara Magnus for her work on biomarkers for post-COVID syndrome.

As has now become tradition, besides talks from current PhD students,  a RIGeL alumni held a presentation. This time it was Dr. Daniela Schulz´ turn, research assistant at the University Hospital UKR, who presented her breaking research on head and neck cancer and shared valuable insights and lessons learned throughout her career.

We say thank you to everyone who joined us during this fantastic event. With that, we put an end to this year´s Summer Schools. Until next year.
